Clinical Efficacy of Azelzstine in Patient with Bronchial Asthma

Abstract
|
|
|
Azelastine, a new antiasthmatic agent was evaluated the efficacy and side effects in 30 patients with bronchial asthma.
Baseline P.F.T., symptom score and side effects were checked and monitored weekly fox 4
weeks with oral administration of Azelastine 2mg bid afterf4 weeks placebo control. , The results were as follows ;
1. Symptom improved markedly in 4 patients, moderately in 3 patients and slightly in 18 patients.
2. Improvement in FEV1 more than 15% was observed in 2 of 30 patients after 2-weeks
treatment and 14 of 30 patients after 4-weeks treatment. 3. The total efficacy rate was 67% (20 / 30).
4. The side effects were observed in 5 patients with abdominal discomfort, nausea, anorexia and sleepiness, but these ones were mild and transient.
